Honoring a Legacy with Heartfelt Branding

Advocate Children’s Hospital (2)

Problem

What started as a simple request to refresh a banner evolved into something much deeper. The annual bowling and bocce event was being renamed in memory of a former patient, and the existing visuals didn’t reflect the heart, joy, or significance of the gathering. Advocate needed a new look—one that would feel vibrant, personal, and rooted in community, while staying true to their brand identity.

Solution

We led a thoughtful rebranding effort for the event, developing updated visual elements that balanced playfulness with purpose. From typography and layout to custom photo edits and colorwork, every design choice centered on celebrating the event’s spirit and the young boy it now honors. The final creative not only captured Advocate’s trusted brand—it became a meaningful tribute that set the tone for future events, leaving both the organization and attendees with something to rally around.

Honoring The Patient

As one of the largest nonprofit healthcare systems in the country, Advocate Children’s Hospital is known for its compassionate, family-focused care. When they approached us to rebrand a long-standing community event, it was more than a design project—it was a chance to help honor a young patient’s legacy and bring renewed energy to a beloved annual tradition.

More Than Design

This project reminded us why we do what we do. It wasn’t just about crafting something beautiful—it was about helping Advocate Children’s Hospital connect emotionally with its community and shine a light on the impact they have every day.

Reimagining the Visuals

With limited original assets, our team rolled up our sleeves and rebuilt the banner from the ground up. We recreated playful character illustrations and refreshed the overall layout—bringing new energy to the design while preserving the charm that makes the event feel special.

Providing Options

To support different needs and sensitivities, we created an alternate version of the banner featuring all illustrated characters and general event text—offering a thoughtful solution that respects the family’s privacy while keeping the spirit of the event intact.

Making it Personal

To honor Colton Darr, the young patient for whom the event is now named, we created a heartfelt version of the banner that features his photo alongside the illustrated animals—bringing a personal, meaningful touch to a beloved annual tradition.

“What they did was absolutely amazing! They turned out so, so good. I have nothing but good things to say about Rawcut Creative and its services.”

Let’s skip the small talk and get to work. Big ideas don’t build
themselves. You bring the vision—we’ll bring the fire.
